Jonathan F. Lane, DVM
Veterinarian/Owner/President
Dr. Jonathan Lane was born and raised in Chelsea, right next door to his father’s and grandfather’s veterinary offices. Growing up, his entire family worked at the practice. While working at the practice and accompanying his father to many farm calls, he decided to pursue a doctorate in veterinary medicine. Dr. Lane graduated from Chelsea High School, class of 1987. He attended Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio, for his undergraduate degree (1991). He was accepted to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, St. Kitts. He completed his pre-clinical studies in the West Indies and then moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma, to finish his clinical training at Oklahoma State University. He received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University at a ceremony in New York City at the United Nations in January of 1995. He joined the practice as a full-time veterinarian immediately upon graduation from school. Dr. Lane enjoys working with the dedicated doctors and staff at Lane Animal Hospital. He is committed to continuing his father’s and grandfather’s legacy and seeing Lane Animal Hospital into its next century of service. He is an active member of the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association and The American Veterinary Medical Association. He holds additional certification from the Educational Committee of Foreign Veterinary Graduates. He is passionate about continuing education and participation in veterinary educational forums.
When not at the hospital, Dr. Lane enjoys spending time with his family and enjoying all that Chelsea has to offer – especially golfing, float boating, and watching sports! He is pleased to be a Chelsea High School Scholarship Committee member, St. Mary Knights of Columbus, and serves as a board member for the Chelsea Field Hockey Club.
Dr. Jonathan Lane met his wife, Margaret, in veterinary school, and they live in Chelsea with their four daughters and a menagerie of pets.

Margaret C. Lane, DVM
Veterinarian/Owner/Treasurer
Dr. Margaret Lane was born in Kingston, New York. In New York, she had the opportunity to work with her family veterinarian, who was her inspiration to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She attended St. Bernard Preparatory School, Cullman, Alabama, in 1987. She received her undergraduate degree from The University of Dallas, 1991. She was accepted to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her pre-clinical training in the West Indies. She completed her clinical training at The University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. She graduated with a degree in veterinary medicine from Ross University in 1996. She holds an additional certification from the Educational Committee for Foreign Veterinary Graduates. Dr. Lane joined the practice at Lane Animal Hospital immediately upon graduation. In addition to enjoying general practice, Dr. Lane is committed to continuing education and organized veterinary medicine. She has taught at both Washtenaw Community College and Baker College, focusing on classes for both Veterinary Technicians and personal pet owners. She is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and served on the AVMA’s Council on Education (Veterinary School Accreditation). She represented Washtenaw County to the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association’s executive board. She continues to represent the Michigan State Animal Response Team to the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Lane enjoys the challenge of general practice. She has a special interest in behavioral and internal medicine. She is delighted to be a part of the Chelsea community and the future of Lane Animal Hospital.
Dr. Lane enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, running, and reading outside of work. She and her husband, Jonathan, share a home in Chelsea with their four daughters and their beloved pets.

Robert C. Bowers, DVM
Veterinarian/Retired Owner/Vice President
Born and raised in West Virginia, Robert C. Bowers, DVM, cannot remember wanting to be anything other than a veterinarian. In pursuit of that goal, he went to The Ohio State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree, a wife, and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine–all in that order!
He was offered a position at Lane Animal Hospital in Chelsea, Michigan, by Dr. Wilfred C. Lane. He started after graduation in 1972 and has been in practice here ever since. With Doctors Lane and Tremper, he has seen Lane Animal Hospital grow into what it is today. While he is semi-retired, Dr. Bowers continues to see appointments one day per week and occasionally comes in for surgical procedures.
Dr. Bowers has been married for 50 years. He has three adult children, two grandchildren, and numerous “granddogs” and “grandcats”! He has served on the Chelsea High School Scholarship Committee and the McKune Memorial Library Board (now the Chelsea District Library).
He is a member of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, the Washtenaw County Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He and his wife are members of St. Mary Catholic Church, Chelsea. Dr. Bowers enjoys cooking for his wife and outwitting the deer in his garden!

Holly Andrick, DVM
Veterinarian/Associate
Born and raised in northern Ohio, Dr. Holly Andrick moved to Lansing to attend Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2013. After graduation, she began work at Lane Animal Hospital. Dr. Holly currently lives in Chelsea, MI, with her cat SassyCat. Her special interests are in feline medicine and animal rescue. She works closely with the local rescue group, The Age of Miracles. Outside of work, she can most commonly be found in the company of friends, enjoying a book, or working on one of the various craft projects.

Dr. Laura O’Rourke, DVM
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. O’Rourke was born and raised in Michigan and has been in practice for almost 30 years. She has worked at several practices around southeast Michigan including a few years working in shelter medicine.
She and her husband, Dan, have two sons, two Samoyeds, and a backyard flock of ducks and chickens.
Her special interests include dermatology and soft tissue surgery. Outside of work she enjoys photography, bird watching, and travel.

Arthur Tremper, DVM
Veterinarian/Retired Owner
Dr. Tremper has been with Lane Animal Hospital for a full five decades! He has 3 children, 3 grandchildren, 1 dog, 1 cat & 2 horses. Dr. Tremper enjoys traveling, hunting, woodworking, and reading, and he is an avid MSU sports fan.

Rachel Michalsen
Practice Manager
Rachel joined the Lane Animal Hospital team in July of 2018. She brings 4 years of experience as a Veterinary Practice Manager with her to LAH and 10 years of business management prior to moving into veterinary medicine.
She has a Bachelor of Science from Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan, and is currently working towards becoming a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager. She is a member of the Washtenaw County Veterinary Medical Association and the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association.
In her spare time, Rachel loves to travel with her husband, work on home renovations, or cheer on her favorite football teams. She and her husband have 3 rescue dogs at home, Guillermo, Pirate, and TeddyBear, and currently reside in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She loves working at LAH and is excited for what the future holds!
Shayla Lane
Office Manager
Shayla joined the LAH team in July of 2016. Even though she shares the same last name, she has no relation to the Lane family, though she does consider the LAH team to be her work family! She has over 16 years of experience in the veterinary field, assisting veterinarians in appointments, surgery, oncology, and emergency medicine. She loves working with animals and people, as well as learning the business side of veterinary medicine.
In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and spending time with friends and family. She has a cat named Scooby. Her dog and very best friend Roxy crossed the rainbow bridge in March 2022.
